Why does Premiere Pro get stuck when exporting?

A stalled progress bar does not by itself show whether the cause is media, an effect, the encoder, storage or a project setting. First check whether the stall is reproducible:

  1. Record the export settings, the timecode where it stops and the affected section.
  2. Save a copy of the project before troubleshooting.
  3. Export a short section around that timecode and see whether the issue repeats.
  4. Change one condition per test and record the result. If several settings change together, the result cannot be attributed to one of them.

If the short section stalls at the same point, inspect the media, effects and tracks there. If it completes, compare the full export range, settings and destination. This is a troubleshooting sequence, not an Adobe diagnosis of a universal root cause.

Why is Adobe Premiere taking so long to export my project?

Export time varies with the project and its settings. A fixed multiple of the programme duration is not a universal test for a fault. Export a short section with the same settings for comparison, then check:

  • whether the export range includes more of the timeline than intended;
  • whether effects or media need to be processed again;
  • whether the output settings match the delivery requirement; and
  • whether the destination is available and has enough free space.

Record what changes in each test. For a Premiere-specific control, check Adobe’s current help documentation for that control.

Why is my Premier export stuck at 99%?

99% alone does not show whether the remaining work is rendering, writing a file or another finishing step. It also does not prove that disk space or the path is the cause. Wait briefly and check whether the application is still responding; then inspect the destination, available space and output file. Export a short test to another location with sufficient space and compare the result.

If only the full project fails, find the last section that exports successfully and test smaller ranges after it. Keep the original project and failed output so you do not lose troubleshooting clues.

Why is my export time so long?

Separate a project that takes time to process from an export that has stopped making progress. Check whether the progress changes, then compare a short section with the full timeline. Review the range, media, effects, output settings and destination one at a time. If progress remains unchanged, record the application state, timecode and settings for further troubleshooting or a support request.
