Video Resizer

Change a video's dimensions or its frame shape — 1920×1080 to 1080×1920, 16:9 to 9:16 — and decide what happens to the picture when the new frame is a different shape. Sign in with desktop Chrome or Edge; the available sizes, crop and pad options follow the current workspace.

How to use Aixcut for this task

  1. STEP 01

Check the numbers you actually need

Find the required width and height, or the required aspect ratio, from the platform you are publishing to — before you open the file.

  2. STEP 02

    Choose crop or pad

When the new frame has a different shape, either crop the picture to fill it or pad the edges to keep everything. Cropping loses part of the frame; padding keeps it and shows bars.

  3. STEP 03

Confirm the result at full size

Watch the resized file full screen, check the edges for anything important that got cropped, and confirm the audio still lines up.

Resizing is not compressing

Two different jobs share one keyword. Changing the frame size or the aspect ratio changes the shape of the picture. Reducing the file size — the figure in megabytes — is compression, and it is a separate setting. A lower resolution does usually produce a smaller file, but if the requirement is a maximum upload size, the setting you want is the compression one.

Crop, pad or stretch

When the target shape is not the shape you have, there are three answers. Cropping fills the new frame and cuts off the rest; padding keeps the whole picture and adds bars; stretching distorts it. Padding is usually the safe default when the frame contains text or faces, and cropping is what you want when the edges are expendable.

Check what the platform actually specifies

Platform requirements are often a maximum rather than a target: a resolution cap, a maximum file size and a required aspect ratio. Meeting the aspect ratio and the size limit normally matters more than hitting an exact pixel count, so read the requirement before you resize.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about this task, its limits and how to judge the result.

How do I reduce the MB size of a video?

That is compression rather than resizing. Lowering the resolution reduces the size as well, but the setting that targets the file size directly is the compression or bitrate option. Check which one the current workspace exposes.

How can I resize a video for free?

Whether a tool is free depends on its current terms and usage limits. Check the workspace before starting; the resize task itself does not establish that it is free.

How do I increase the file size of a video?

A higher bitrate or resolution can produce a larger file, but it cannot restore detail missing from the source. File size and frame dimensions are separate settings.

How to resize videos without cropping?

Choose a fit or padding option if the editor provides one. It keeps the full image visible and fills the unused area; cropping instead cuts off part of the frame.

Will resizing add a watermark?

Aixcut exports are watermark-free across plans, and exporting itself does not consume credits. Check the picture, sound and captions in the exported file.
