Edit video

Talking Head Editor

Cut the dead air out of a recording and keep the words. Aixcut shortens the long pauses and the filler sounds in a talking-head take, then shows every cut on the transcript so you can put a line back before you export. Sign in with desktop Chrome or Edge; the pause threshold and the formats you can bring in follow the current workspace.

How to use Aixcut for this task

  1. STEP 01

    Import the recording

Add one take, or several attempts at the same explanation, and let the transcript finish before you judge the pauses.

  2. STEP 02

    Describe the cleanup

Say how long a gap has to be before it counts as dead air, and whether filler words should go as well.

  3. STEP 03

Review each cut on the transcript

Deleting a line of transcript removes the matching video and audio. Restore anything you want to keep, then check picture and sound at every join before exporting.

Removing silence is not noise reduction

This task shortens pauses; it does not clean up a noisy room. If the problem is hiss, hum, a fan or traffic outside the window, removing silence will not fix it — and it can make the noise more obvious, because it cuts away the quiet parts that were sitting around it. Deal with the noise as a separate job.

Decide what actually counts as a pause

Cutting every gap makes speech sound rushed and slightly robotic; keeping every gap leaves the recording slow. Set a threshold — shorten only gaps longer than about a second, for instance — and then listen to a full minute of the result. A short breath between sentences is part of how speech reads as human.

Check the joins, not just the total length

A cut one frame late clips the start of a word; one frame early leaves an audible click. Play a few seconds either side of every join. Also check that a shortened pause did not remove a beat the listener needed — the gap before a list, or the pause before a reveal, is doing work.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about this task, its limits and how to judge the result.

How can I remove silences from my audio?

Import the recording, set how long a gap has to be before it counts as a pause, and let the tool shorten those gaps. Review every cut on the transcript before exporting.

How to remove silence audio call?

If you mean pauses in a call recording, review the gaps in context and keep the words you need. The phrase does not imply a separate call-specific feature.

Can I remove silence from video, not just audio?

Yes. Bring in the video take — shortening the pauses changes picture and sound together, so check the joins on playback rather than on the waveform.

Can I remove background noise from audio here?

No. This is pause removal, not noise reduction. Removing silences can make existing hiss or hum more noticeable, so treat the two as separate jobs.

How do I remove silence without making speech sound rushed?

Set a threshold instead of cutting every gap — normally only gaps longer than about a second — and leave short breaths in place. Listen to a full minute before you commit.

Can I undo a removed line?

Yes. Restore individual lines in the text panel and the matching picture and sound come back.
