Transcribe Audio

Transcribe audio to text when you need the words in writing: for meeting notes, interview quotes, a video script, or a subtitle starting point. Aixcut transcribes recordings in a desktop Chrome or Edge workspace and leaves the text in the project for the next step.

Transcribe Audio

How to use Aixcut for this task

  1. STEP 01

    Add the recording

Bring in the audio file and check that the speaker is audible throughout before spending a pass on it.

  2. STEP 02

    Run the transcription

Produce the text, then read it against the audio rather than on its own.

  3. STEP 03

    Correct and export

Fix names, numbers and technical terms, then export the format the next tool needs.

What makes a recording easy to transcribe

One speaker, consistent level and no background music produce clean results. Two people who talk over each other, a lapel mic rubbing against clothing, or music under the voice all increase the correction work. If you can re-record, fixing the source costs less than fixing the transcript.

The review pass is where the value is

Automatic transcription is a time saver, not a finished document. Spend the saved time on the words that carry meaning: names, figures, units and anything that would be embarrassing in a published quote. Reading the text against the audio is faster than reading it alone and catching nothing.

What to do with the text afterwards

The same transcript can become video captions, show notes, an article draft or a searchable archive. Decide the destination before you format it, because captions need timing while an article needs paragraphs and punctuation.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about this task, its limits and how to judge the result.

How do I transcribe audio to text?

Add the recording, run the transcription, then correct names and numbers against the audio before exporting.

Can I transcribe a recording with more than one speaker?

Yes, but expect more correction work, and check that overlapping speech was not merged into a single line.

Does the transcript include timestamps?

Timing is part of a subtitle or caption file. If you need timestamps for quoting, export the timed format as well as the plain text.

What audio quality do I need?

Clear speech at a steady level. Background music, room echo and low volume all reduce accuracy regardless of the tool.

Can I transcribe audio to text for free?

Trial access and usage limits follow the current workspace. Check long recordings, multiple speakers and timestamp support after signing in instead of inferring a promise from the free query variant.
