Edit video

Script Editor

Two different jobs sit under this keyword: writing a script, and getting an already-recorded video back into script form. Aixcut covers the second one — bring your script and your footage together, arrange a first cut around the script, and see which shots are missing before you shoot the rest. If you have not written the script yet, start with the structure below.

Script Editor

How to use Aixcut for this task

  1. STEP 01

Bring the script and the footage together

Add the script as the plan and your footage as the material, and state the intended length and the message.

  2. STEP 02

    Match shots to script sections

Ask Aixcut to line footage up against each section, and to flag the sections it has nothing for.

  3. STEP 03

Close the gaps, then lock the cut

Decide per missing shot whether to film it, source it or generate it; then revise the script, refine the cut and export.

A script for video is a plan, not an essay

A readable essay and a workable script look different. A script is written to be spoken and shot: short sentences, one idea per section, and a picture decision attached to each part. A two-column version helps — what is said on one side, what is on screen on the other.

Write to length, not to inspiration

Narration usually lands somewhere around 130 to 150 words a minute for clear delivery, so treat that as a planning estimate: a 60-second video is roughly that many words of narration, which is far less than most first drafts. Set a word budget per section and cut to fit before recording rather than after.

The gap list is the useful output

The most valuable thing a script-to-footage pass produces is the list of sections you have no material for. That list is the shooting plan. Deciding what to do about each gap — shoot it, source it, or generate it — is cheaper before the edit than during it.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about this task, its limits and how to judge the result.

What is a video script?

A plan for a video written to be spoken, with the narration and the picture decisions set out. It is not finished prose, and it is not the same document as a film screenplay.

How can I write a video script?

Fix the length first and convert it into a word budget, outline one idea per section, write the narration to that budget, and add the picture decision for each section.

Can you give an example of a video script structure?

A workable outline is: hook, context, the main points in order, closing action. For a product demo the same shape becomes problem, demonstration, result, next step.

How do I get the script out of a video I already made?

Transcribe the recording and treat the transcript as the draft script. That route is faster than rewriting from memory when the footage already exists.

Can I start with text alone?

This workflow expects a script and existing footage. Where a shot is missing you can decide whether to film it, source it or generate it; video generation requires membership.

Can I edit a video by its script for free?

Trial access follows the current workspace rules. This page separates writing a script, extracting text and editing footage by a script; confirm the live entry before use.
