Video to Text

Turn the spoken content of a video into text: a transcript for a demo, a searchable record of a webinar, or the starting point for captions. Aixcut converts video to text in a desktop Chrome or Edge workspace, using the audio track that is already in the project.

Video to Text

How to use Aixcut for this task

  1. STEP 01

    Add the video

Bring the clip into the project and check that the speech is clear enough to transcribe before you rely on the result.

  2. STEP 02

    Generate the transcript

Produce the text from the audio, then read it while the video plays so you catch anything that does not match the picture.

  3. STEP 03

    Format for the destination

Add paragraphs and punctuation for an article, keep the timing for captions, then export.

Demos and webinars are the hard cases

Product demos and webinars mix talking with tool names, version numbers and screen action. Those are exactly the tokens a recogniser gets wrong, and exactly the ones a viewer searches for. Budget a correction pass over every product name and number before the transcript is published.

Transcript, captions or article: pick one first

A transcript is the plain record. Captions are the timed version shown over the video. An article is the edited version with the filler removed. All three start from the same pass, so decide which one you are producing before you invest in formatting.

Text makes video searchable and reusable

Once the words exist as text they can be indexed, quoted, translated, or turned into an article and a set of captions. That is the practical reason to transcribe: the video stops being a single asset and becomes raw material for several.

Turning a finished video back into a script

When the only thing you have is the finished video, the transcript can act as the script draft: split it where the shots change, write down what each shot shows, and add the actions needed for a reshoot or a remake. Transcription turns speech into text; the shot structure is still assembled by hand, and the edit does not need to be touched.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about this task, its limits and how to judge the result.

How do I convert a video to text?

Add the video, generate the transcript from its audio, correct names and numbers, then export the format your destination needs.

Can I get a transcript with timestamps?

Yes, but that is the timed subtitle format rather than the plain text export. Choose the timed output when you need to quote specific moments.

Does the transcript include what happens on screen?

No. Speech is transcribed; on-screen action and text are not described. Add those notes yourself if the reader needs them.

Can I turn the transcript into subtitles?

Yes, using the timed version. A plain text transcript has no timecodes, so captions need the caption workflow.

Can I convert a video to text for free?

Trial access follows the current workspace rules. Check whether you need plain text or timed captions before exporting.

Can I turn a video into a script?

Transcribe the speech first, then arrange the transcript into shots to get a script or a shot list. Building that structure is a manual step; transcription does not produce a shot breakdown on its own. To go the other way and build video from a script, use the AI video script tool.
