Edit video

Add Text

Put text on a video: titles, lower thirds, labels and captions placed over the picture. Add the text, set where it sits and how long it stays, and check it against the safe area before exporting. Sign in with desktop Chrome or Edge; the fonts, styles and export options follow the current workspace.

Add Text

How to use Aixcut for this task

  1. STEP 01

Place the text on the frame

Put it where it should sit, and set the timing so it enters and leaves with the section it belongs to.

  2. STEP 02

Set the style and the safe area

Choose the size and colour, and keep the text inside the area that survives a different screen shape. A caption that touches the edge gets cut on another device.

  3. STEP 03

Check every line at playback speed

Read the text at normal speed. If you cannot finish the line before it goes, it is either on screen too briefly or carrying too many words.

Adding text is not generating video from text

Two different tasks share similar wording. Adding text puts an element over footage you already have. Text-to-video generates footage from a written prompt. If what you want is an AI clip made from a description, that is a different feature and this is not that page.

Text taken from the audio is a caption job

If the words you need are already spoken in the video, do not type them by hand — transcribe the audio and use the result as caption text, then correct the names and numbers. Typing manually is the slowest route and the one most likely to drift out of sync.

Safe area and timing decide whether anyone reads it

Text placed near the edge disappears on a different aspect ratio, and text that appears for under a second is decoration rather than information. Keep the wording inside the safe area, and give each line enough time to be read at normal speed — not at the speed you already know it by heart.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about this task, its limits and how to judge the result.

Can you add text to a video on a phone?

The workspace runs in desktop Chrome or Edge. Adding text on iOS is normally done in an editing app, which sits outside what this page covers.

Is there a free text to video?

That wording can mean generating a video from text, which is different from adding text to existing footage. This page covers the latter; check the appropriate tool’s latest official website for current capabilities and terms.

Can I add text automatically from the audio?

Yes. Where the words are already spoken, transcribe the audio and use the result as caption text instead of typing it out, then correct names and numbers.

Can ChatGPT edit a video for me?

ChatGPT can help plan an edit or draft on-screen wording, but editing and exporting the footage requires a video editor. Check the current product’s official website for its supported editing features.

What is the best free video editor for adding text?

Compare editors by the text controls, timing precision, supported export formats and usage terms you need. Verify current product claims on each editor’s latest official website.

Will the text stay in the same place on other screen shapes?

Keep the wording inside the safe area and check the result in the aspect ratio you are publishing to. Text near the edge can be cut on a different frame shape.

Can I add text to a video automatically?

For spoken words, generate a transcript and use it as caption text; for titles or labels, place a text element and set its timing. The two tasks use different controls.
