Edit video

Speed Changer

Change the speed of a clip to fit a fixed length, to slow a movement down, or to cut dead time without losing the words. Aixcut adjusts video speed in a desktop Chrome or Edge workspace, and keeps the audio in the same project so you can check both together.

Speed Changer

How to use Aixcut for this task

  1. STEP 01

    Select the section

Add the clip and mark only the part whose speed should change, so the rest of the edit keeps its natural pace.

  2. STEP 02

    Set the new speed

Choose a faster or slower rate, then preview the result rather than trusting the number alone.

  3. STEP 03

    Fix the audio and export

Decide whether the sound follows the new speed, adjust the pitch or mute it, then export.

Speed changes do two things at once

Changing the rate alters both the duration and the audio pitch. Speeding a clip up can turn a voice into a chipmunk, and slowing it down can make it sound unnaturally deep. Decide first whether the sound should follow the picture or be replaced, and mute or detach it when the new pitch does not work.

When faster is the right answer

Speeding up works for timelapse, repeated actions, screen recordings of long processes and B-roll that only needs to suggest an activity. It rarely works for dialogue, because viewers notice the altered voice immediately and it reads as a mistake rather than a style.

When slower is the right answer

Slowing footage down is for showing a movement in detail: a product turning, a hand gesture, a reaction. Slow enough and the source needs a high frame rate, otherwise the result looks stuttered, so check the original before you go far below normal speed.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about this task, its limits and how to judge the result.

How do I change the speed of a video?

Add the clip, mark the section, set a faster or slower rate, and preview it. Decide separately what happens to the audio.

Does changing speed affect the audio?

Yes, sound follows the picture unless you detach, replace or mute it. Faster speeds raise the pitch and slower speeds lower it.

Can I change the speed of just part of a clip?

Yes. Mark the section before applying the change so the rest of the clip keeps its original pacing.

Why does slowed down footage look jumpy?

The source was recorded at a frame rate that cannot support the slower playback. Slow less, or start from higher frame rate footage.

Is there a free video speed changer?

Trial access and export options follow the current workspace rules. Preview the changed audio as well as the picture before publishing.
